Dear Member, Welcome to the new Worldwide Motorhome Touring 2009brochure. More and more members are adventuring across the globe each year – to Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa – so we're very pleased to present a very exciting programme for 2009. A warm welcome too to any non- members looking at this brochure – we hope you find what you're looking for in the following pages and will give us a call. The Camping and Caravanning Club has been arranging foreign travel for members since at least the 1920s. The Club's archives document a long and colourful history of camping and caravanning abroad. More recently, Carefree, the Club's international travel service, has been arranging fly/ drive escorted motorhome tours since 1998. These escorted tours only whetted the appetite for more travel, so we've also provided members with a tailor- made service, for individual travel, for a number of years now too. Fancy joining one of the very popular escorted motorhome holidays to America's West, America's East at Fall Colours time, to British Columbia and the Canadian Rockies, to New Zealand or to South Africa? These tours are great value for money, providing you with an amazing range of sights and experiences without you having to do any of the planning, plus there's the added back- up and security of having Club escorts should you need them. Day by day you're free to travel at your own pace and follow your own path, safe in the knowledge that in the evening your pitch is waiting for you and there are other folk expecting you. For members who are planning their own particular adventure, our specialist travel advisors are here to help you plan the perfect route and to get the best prices and fares for your motorhome hire and flights. Our team all have tourist board specialist status for at least one of the destinations we feature, with many of them travelling recently and regularly in the countries we offer. We work with lots of motorhome companies and often have access to special deals and preferred partner rates, as well as standard rates. And if you're not thinking of camping and caravanning at all, we can still help you, as we can also book just air fares, or add in car hire, hotels, excursions and attractions. Remember too, all your travel arrangements made with Carefree have not only the backing of The Club, but are ABTA and ATOL protected too – back- up well worth having when you travel abroad at present. South Africa Escorted tours Carefree's first Worldwide escorted tour took place ten years ago in 1998, with a group that travelled to the Canadian Rockies. New Zealand soon followed, and last year we introduced South Africa. If you enjoy meeting up with other members and like the idea of having tour escorts on hand then an escorted tour is definitely for you. For 2009 we are delighted to be introducing two more tours; one to America's Westtaking in California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona, where you will visit the big cities of Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas, contrasted by the natural beauty of the Zion, Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, Death Valley and Grand Canyon National Parks; and one to America's Easttaking in New York, Vermont, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, where, after spending some time in New York City, you will head off via the Catskills to Niagara Falls, then return to New York visiting Boston and Cape Cod on the way. Our popular tour to British Columbia and the Canadian Rockies will be taking place in May. Visit Vancouver and Victoria before you head off to the mountains, calling in at Whistler, Wells Gray Provincial Park, Mount Robson, Jasper, and Banff before you return home from Calgary. Our ever popular New Zealandtour will be taking place at the end of September 2009 when you can visit the very best of both North and South Islands. Starting in Christchurch we visit Mount Cook, Dunedin, Milford Sound, Queenstown, Fox Glacier, and Kaikoura on South Island before crossing to North Island to take in Wellington, Napier, Lake Taupo, Rotorua, the Bay of Islands and Auckland. Also in the southern hemisphere is our tour to South Africawhere, travelling from Johannesburg in the north to Cape Town in the south, you can experience the Kruger National Park, Swaziland, the historic battlefields, Golden Gate National Park and Addo Elephant Park, before reaching the glorious Garden route and finally Cape Town.
